AT&T to Enable Facetime over 3G for Mobile Share Customers
AT&T just announced that its customers will soon be able to place Facetime calls over its 3G network. There’s a small catch, however; those interested in doing so will be required to have a subscription to one of AT&T’s new Mobile Share data plans.
The feature will not work over 3G if you’re currently subscribed to AT&T’s older, non-Mobile Share plans, so it’s pretty clear that AT&T is trying to entice new and existing subscribers to its new subscription options with incentives such as this.
“AT&T will offer FaceTime over Cellular as an added benefit of our new Mobile Share data plans, which were created to meet customers’ growing data needs at a great value,” an AT&T spokesperson told TechnoBuffalo. “With Mobile Share, the more data you use, the more you save. FaceTime will continue to be available over Wi-Fi for all our customers.” The spokesperson didn’t say when the option would be available, but we imagine it will hit when the plans launch on August 23.
